Our Stallion shanks vary only slightly from our Kentucky Leather Chain Shanks. They are constructed from the same high quality bridle leather used in our halters and are slightly wider than the regular chain shank, featuring 1-1/8" wide leather strap. We've increased the length for the Stallion Shank to 10' and 12' by splicing and triple stitching two straps together. We use two pieces of leather to obtain the full length rather than one, because they have yet to create a ten or twelve foot cow! (And if you know of one, please call ASAP, we've got a few interested parties!) In other words, the length is dictated by the length of leather hides. The benefit of having a much longer shank is that the handler is able to keep the stallion in hand while allowing for more room to work with the horse, should the need arise. The stallion shank is outfitted with a 36" chain and is available in English brass or stainless steel. The shank is available in dark brown or black leather.
