Foalert

The FOALERT system is the most reliable foaling monitoring system available.
It was designed by veterinarians to detect foaling in mares but it is frequently used to monitor mares, cows, llamas, camels and alpacas. The system is very reliable and easily installed. Click to See Testimonials.

The system is comprised of two basic components - the transmitter and the receiver. The transmitter is sutured to the vulva 1 -2 weeks prior to the expected delivery date. When the vulva lips physically separate at birth, the actuating magnet pulls out of the transmitter. This separation activates the transmitter, which in turn activates the receiver. t gets added when you create a new section. Just select me and start changing.
 
Foalert Transmitter
The transmitter is sutured to just outside the vulva approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the expected due date. The physical separation of the vulva lips pulls the actuating magnet from the transmitter. When this occurs, a silent radio signal is sent to the receiver which then 1) sounds an audible alarm and 2) activates any accessories attached to the receiver. There are two kinds of transmitters, the Multi-Use (blue) and the Single Use (red). The Multi-Use transmitter may be used several times, depending on the length of time that the magnet is out of the transmitter shelf. The Single-Use transmitter is used only once/ then thrown out. Both transmitters work with either the Standard Range or Long Range receiver. You may monitor multiple births simultaneously, provided each expectant mother is wearing a transmitter and is within the tested range of the receiver.
Foalert Reciever
When activated, the receiver will:
1) sound an audible alarm and
2) activate any attached accessories. 

We offer both a Long Range and a Standard Range Receiver. Both come equipped with back-up batteries in case of a power failure. The Long Range Receiver has dual antenna ports, allowing for monitoring both stall and paddock areas simultaneously. The practical range is 1000 - 1200 feet. 

The Standard Range Receiver is typically used to monitor stall births. The practical range is 150 - 200 feet. 

It is recommended that the receiver be placed as close as possible to the birthing area, with as few barriers between the receiver and transmitter as possible. Barriers, particularly metal, may cause interference, thus reducing the range of transmission. In cases where an attendant is not nearby at all times, it is suggested that an accessory be used with the system.
Foalert Automatic Dialer

 		The Automatic Dialer requires a telephone line in close proximity to the receiver. The dialer can be programmed to call up to 4 telephone and/or pager numbers when activated by the receiver. The dialer will call each number and deliver either a voice or numeric message. This accessory allows for the most freedom of movement for the attendant as there are no distant restraints via the telephone line.
Foalert Auxiliary Alarm
The Alarm is hard wired and connected to the receiver. This allows for a second audible alarm in another stationary location.
